01 · The material

Natural History

The name describes an inclusion scene rather than a new species or a single locality.

02 · Observe

Under the Loupe

Do not identify the inclusion mineral from green color alone. Some branching patterns overlap with the term dendritic agate.

03 · Ownership

Collect & Care

Use a soft cloth and gentle cleaning. Photograph thin edges and backlit areas before deciding where an old slab belongs.

04 · The human story

History, Lore & Tradition

Documented history

Moss agate is a descriptive collector and lapidary name. It should not be mistaken for a fossil identification.

Sources & further reading

References are labeled by role. A source documenting a belief is not evidence of a medical or mineralogical effect. Reflection prompts are C&C editorial suggestions.
