The material, examined

What the name tells you

At Petrified Forest National Park, silica-bearing water contributed to preservation of the wood. That site-specific history should not be copied onto every fossil from a different age and environment.

A useful question at the counter

What evidence supports wood identity, age and source? Those are separate claims. Historic occurrence is not present collecting permission.

A note for your collection

Protect thin slices and existing cracks. Identify the replacing minerals before choosing chemical cleaning or cutting methods.

Sources & further reading

References are labeled by role. A source documenting a belief is not evidence of a medical or mineralogical effect. Reflection prompts are C&C editorial suggestions.
