The material, examined

What the name tells you

Beryl’s variety names help organize color, but a collector still needs the specimen’s own records. Keep source, treatment status and the form of the specimen together.

A useful question at the counter

What supports the beryl identity? Is any treatment disclosed, or simply not known?

A note for your collection

Protect against knocks and extreme heat. Fractured specimens need gentler care than the hardness number suggests.

Sources & further reading

References are labeled by role. A source documenting a belief is not evidence of a medical or mineralogical effect. Reflection prompts are C&C editorial suggestions.
