The material, examined
What the name tells you
Tourmaline species share a structure but differ in composition. Color zones can record changing growth conditions; their beauty does not, by itself, disclose the chemistry or the mine.
A useful question at the counter
Is the claim about color, species or geographic origin? Ask which has actually been established.
A note for your collection
Protect long crystals and fractured specimens from impacts. Avoid sudden temperature changes and aggressive cleaning.
Sources & further reading
References are labeled by role. A source documenting a belief is not evidence of a medical or mineralogical effect. Reflection prompts are C&C editorial suggestions.
