The human story, examined
Documented history, historical belief and contemporary crystal practice are different parts of the story. Each is identified here on its own terms.
The human story
Rubellite and indicolite are familiar trade names. Their use does not replace species identification or treatment disclosure.
Reading a name carefully
Is the claim about color, species or geographic origin? Ask which has actually been established.
Contemporary meaning & personal practice
C&C’s original practice notes associate this material with protection and grounding for black tourmaline. Those practice associations should not be extended automatically to every member of the tourmaline family. These are contemporary spiritual associations and editorial reflection suggestions, distinct from mineralogical properties.
Sources & further reading
References are labeled by role. A source documenting a belief is not evidence of a medical or mineralogical effect. Reflection prompts are C&C editorial suggestions.
- GIA: Tourmaline
- Handbook: Schorl
