The material, examined

What the name tells you

Mindat’s current definition includes more than the simple polylithionite–trilithionite shorthand. A trade label can identify a useful family without resolving the exact species. Do not infer lithium concentration from color.

A useful question at the counter

Is this a mica-rich rock or a separated mica specimen? What analysis, if any, establishes its precise composition?

A note for your collection

Avoid scrubbing flaky surfaces. Do not ingest mineral material or treat its lithium content as a medicine.

Sources & further reading

References are labeled by role. A source documenting a belief is not evidence of a medical or mineralogical effect. Reflection prompts are C&C editorial suggestions.
