The human story, examined
Documented history, historical belief and contemporary crystal practice are different parts of the story. Each is identified here on its own terms.
The human story
The lapidary trade uses jasper names to communicate color, pattern and source. That is useful language when the underlying identity stays visible.
Reading a name carefully
Does the supplier know the composition and locality, or only the commercial name? Photograph and retain the original label.
Contemporary meaning & personal practice
C&C’s original practice notes associate this material with protection and self-exploration, with associations varying by color. Choose the symbolism that is meaningful to you, while keeping the actual material identity in view. These are contemporary spiritual associations and editorial reflection suggestions, distinct from mineralogical properties.
Sources & further reading
References are labeled by role. A source documenting a belief is not evidence of a medical or mineralogical effect. Reflection prompts are C&C editorial suggestions.
