The material, examined

What the name tells you

Howlite, magnesite and other pale minerals can be difficult to separate from a photograph. Color added by treatment does not change the underlying identity into turquoise.

A useful question at the counter

What material was identified before any color treatment? A receipt that only says “blue stone” leaves that question open.

A note for your collection

Avoid abrasion and chemical experiments. Treat unknown colored material cautiously until its treatment is understood.

Sources & further reading

References are labeled by role. A source documenting a belief is not evidence of a medical or mineralogical effect. Reflection prompts are C&C editorial suggestions.
