The material, examined

What the name tells you

A polished azurite–malachite piece is an aggregate. Different zones may have different textures and weaknesses. Keep an original mine label, especially when a distinctive specimen is being represented as locality-specific.

A useful question at the counter

What minerals are actually present in the blue, green and dark zones? A color map is not yet an identification map.

A note for your collection

Avoid acids, vigorous scrubbing and soaking a fragile matrix. Do not ingest minerals or prepare direct-contact drinking-water infusions.

Sources & further reading

References are labeled by role. A source documenting a belief is not evidence of a medical or mineralogical effect. Reflection prompts are C&C editorial suggestions.
